Domenico Savio receives Austrian price in microbiology


In the frame of the 35th conference of the Austrian Society for hygiene, microbiology and preventative medicine Domenico Savio received the Austrian price in microbiology.

He got this price for his publication 'Bacterial diversity along a 2600 km river continuum' in the high rated journal Environmental Microbiology. In this work Domenico could detect via modern DNA-sequencing techniques and bioinformatical analyses the evolution of aquatic microbial communties along the 2600km long navigable part of the danube river.
