Block course on “Economic perspectives on Water Management and Governance”, February 17 to February 21, 2014

The Centre for Water Resource Systems at TU Vienna would like to invite to the block course on “Economic perspectives on Water Management and Governance”, that is planned from the 17th to the 21st of February 2014.
This introductory course is aimed at Masters and PhD students researching all topics surrounding water resource management.

Lecturers

The classes will be taught by Prof. Dr. Bernd Hansjürgens, Department of Economics, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), Leipzig, Germany, Dr. Ines Dombrowsky, German Development Institute (DIE), Bonn, Germany and Dr. Moritz Reese, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ), Leipzig, Germany.
Prof. Hansjürgens is head of the Department of Economics at UFZ and Professor of Environmental Economics at Martin Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg. His research interests include instrument choice in environmental policy and he has particular expertise in institutional aspects of market-based instruments.
Dr. Dombrowsky is head of the Department Environmental Policy and Natural Resources Management at DIE. Her research expertise includes new institutional economics, environmental economics, ecological economics, river basin management institutions, the management of trans-boundary rivers and IWRM.
Dr. Reese is a lawyer and researcher at the Department for Environmental and Planning Law, UFZ and postdoctoral fellow at the Faculty of Law, University of Hamburg. His research interests include European constitutional law, particularly environmental competencies and European environmental law, water law, waste law and resources management law and climate adaptation.

Venue

The course will be held at the Vienna University of Technology, Karlsplatz 13, in the heart of the historic city centre and easily accessible by public transport.

Registration

Advanced registration is essential as places are limited. Early application is recommended. There are no fees to attend the course but participants are responsible for their own transport, accommodation and meals.
